A short workshop on how to use your own life to create a play. We will talk about using your life as material for monologues and short plays. Students will learn the fundamentals for writing a play.
About the Speaker
A native of St. Louis, Missouri. Mariah received her BA in Communications from the University of New Mexico and an MFA from Smith College in Playwriting. Mariah is the author of 12 plays, with the most recent staged as a production of Shakespeare Festival St. Louis’ Shakespeare in the Streets, The Ville: Avengeance. Currently, she is in preproduction for a new play commissioned by Metro Theater Company, Bold, Brave, Curious!: A Madeline Delilah Story, premiering spring 2022. Also, Mariah is seeking investors for Madeline Delilah Changes the World, a children’s TV show. Mariah is writer/director/producer of 4 short films: 5 of Cups, The Prince, Beautiful Hands, and Lies We Tell Ourselves. Beautiful Hands and Lies We Tell Ourselves both screened at the St. Louis International Film Festival. She is also director for the soon to be released Honorable.
